Plastic surgery for pet dogs has become a new trend in South Korea this year, evoking criticism from animal lovers. Pet grooming is widely popular in South Korea, the ‘home of plastic surgery.’ But now a growing number of pet owners are taking that a step further with surgical altercations, such as ear trimming and stretchmark removal to make them cuter.
The cost of surgery reportedly ranges from 60 US dollars to around one thousand US dollars. However, animal lovers in South Korea have strongly objected to the new trend, calling it maltreatment.
A veterinarian explained that plastic surgery for pets in the past had been out of medical reasons, but it was soon discovered that it could also make them more attractive.
