In a stomach-churning moment captured last Sunday, a daredevil on a tightrope narrowly escaped death after he was nearly blown off the rope by a gust of wind. Frenchman Tancrède Melet was in the middle of his extraordinary journey on a fine line between two hot air balloons, when a strong wind suddenly shook his balance. Luckily, he managed to cling on to the wire at the very last moment.
Melet and his partner Julien Millot decided to attempt the daring task during an annual paragliding festival in Saint Hilaire du Touvet, France, after having debated the idea for over a year.
To prevent the two hot air balloons from drifting too far away from each other, they had to tether them to the ground. Despite that, they were aware that the stunt would prove tricky, given the number of elements at play. While Melet in the end managed to finish the walk, Millot was unable to follow suit, due to the extreme wind conditions...
